AIRLINE OPERATORS

With the set-up facilities and flexibility built into PPS, it can easily accommodate aircraft performance data set-up, flight log lay-out designs and operational settings suited towards any airline requirements.

PPS contains all aeronautical data as well as information on the specific aircraft DOC costs with fuel price management facilities as well as automatic calculation of en-route overflight charges. This enables PPS to select the minimum production cost routing as well as the most economical flight level automatically while taking into consideration en-route winds and temperature forecast data.  PPS also facilitates generation of minimum time track routings and minimum airway distance routings. A direct return of investment in PPS can, thus, be expected in a very short time.

The fact that the PPS Flight Planning system is pc-based and that the PPS CrewBriefing solution is web-based and are fully integrated with each other means that it is a very efficient, suitable and powerful flight planning solution. This integration coupling and way of working makes it very simple and very efficient for an operations department to support the flight crews the best possible way since the operations department will be using the PPS Flight Planning system for creating and managing all flights either manually, semi-automatically or fully automized, changing flight plans, managing slots and CTOTs, sending delay messages etc., whereas the crew can focus on using the CrewBriefing facilities.

Features such as EROPS planning with calculation of oxygen requirements and ETOPS ETP planning with critical fuel scenarios and performance driftdown calculation profiles are available. Upload of flight plan and wind data from PPS to the aircraft’s onboard FMS system is also available providing the aircraft carries an FMS Satcom subscription with Honeywell Global Data Centre or ARINC Direct.

The solutions offered to regional-, cargo-, scheduled and national airline operators are typically divided into 3 categories as follows:

Airline Basic

The PPS Flight Planning and CrewBriefing main solution is aimed at Airline operators with typically up to around 5 aircrafts in the fleet where the operations department creates and dispatches all flights on a per-flight basis. This solution is typically used by charter airlines and ACMI operators with limited fleet size and who runs an ever changing flight program. The AIRLINE BASIC solution can be coupled with various advanced module features covering planning needs such as EROPS/ETOPS/ETP long-range calculations.

Airline Intermediate

The PPS Flight Planning and CrewBriefing main solution can be coupled with the PPS Scheduled Flight Planning module which is aimed at Airline fleet operators with typically between 5 to 15 aircraft in scheduled/charter/cargo operation.  The operations department has various dispatch facilities available through use of the PPS Scheduled Flight Planning module and with opportunity of creating and maintaining the airline’s summer and winter traffic program. Flights can also be entered on basis of creating standard city-pair based flights along with mixing-in ad hoc charter or cargo flights on a daily basis. Once a flight has been created in the PPS Scheduled Flight Planning Module the filing of the ATS flight plan and dispatch can take place for one or more flights in an easy work flow and with a minimum of data input required. The PPS Scheduled Flight Planning module can also handle EuroControl RPL based flight plans in case the airline has not yet converted to dynamic FPL filing of all flight plans, where the latter offer the operator the maximum operational advantage in terms of being able to file the dynamic minimum cost routing and best economical FL on a per flight basis. The AIRLINE INTERMEDIATE solution can be coupled with various advanced module features covering planning needs such as EROPS/ETOPS/ETP long-range calculations.

Airline Advanced

The PPS Flight Planning, CrewBriefing and Scheduled Flight Planning solution as described under AIRLINE INTERMEDIATE can be further enhanced by adapting full automation processing through advanced interfacing. This requires, however, that the Airline operator has a scheduling/crew/load planning system implemented which can export the traffic data at short time intervals which PPS will auto-import and utilise in an automated work flow process. The AIRLINE ADVANCED solution incorporates automatic data import, automatic filing of best economy routing and filing of best economy FL on dynamic basis as well as immediate and automatic upload of all calculated flight plans to CrewBriefing.  Whenever changes are made to a specific flight in the Airline’s scheduling/crew/load planning system, PPS will automatically file any ATS related changes as well as automatically re-calculate all flight logs on which there are any data changes.

The work flow in the operations department with the PPS AIRLINE ADVANCED solution implemented is different compared to the above PPS solutions as the operations department will typically not dispatch any flights since the PPS system will automatically file and dispatch all flights along with all flight changes on a continuous basis. The operations department’s tasks are basically reduced to 3 focus areas:  monitoring tasks, creation and approval of new company ATS routing alternatives for new city-pairs when this occur and management of incoming flight related slots via the PPS AMEXSY auto-filing system.  In case any data is missing on a flight or in case flight parameters are exceeded, the PPS system will warn the operations department on-screen as well as send warning emails to selected email addresses in the operations department for further attention. The operations department can of course intervene at any given time and override any previous filed and uploaded flight plans by carrying out a manual dispatch process in seconds. This fully automated solution will free up vast resources in the operations department and enable the airline to standardize and automate all pre-flight calculations based on best economy routings and best economy FL’s for each single flight in relation to en-route winds, temps and varying load factors.  The interfacing facilities also enable the airline to import MEL lists from maintenance software systems for presentation of MEL data together with the OFP – operational flight plans. The AIRLINE ADVANCED solution can be coupled with other various advanced module features covering planning needs such as EROPS/ETOPS/ETP long-range calculations.
