Advanced Business Aviation

The PPS Flight Planning and CrewBriefing main solution as described under the Business and Corporate Aviation section can be extended with optional advanced module features. The use of the PPS Advanced Module features are aimed at private, corporate and commercial AOC operators flying mid-sized to heavy business jets with complex/long-range/ ultra long range planning needs. The PPS Advanced Module solutions are also relevant for short to mid-range high-volume AOC fleet operators who have a requirement for 3rd party data interfacing.

PPS contains all aeronautical data, information on the specific aircraft DOC costs along with fuel price management facilities as well as automatic calculation of en-route overflight charges. This enables you as operator to analyse and select the minimum production cost routing as well as the most economical flight level automatically while taking into consideration en-route winds and temperature forecast data. A direct return of the investment in PPS can, thus, be expected in a very short time.

With the set-up facilities and flexibility built into PPS, it can easily accommodate aircraft performance data set-up and flight log lay-out designs suited towards operation of long-range business jets as well as high-volume fleet operators. Features such as EROPS planning with calculation of oxygen requirements and ETOPS ETP planning with critical fuel scenarios and performance driftdown calculation profiles are available. Upload of flight plan and wind data from PPS to the aircraft’s onboard FMS system is also available providing that the aircraft carries an FMS Satcom subscription with Honeywell Global Data Centre or ARINC Direct. Fleet operators with larger aircraft fleets and high volume production have a great advantage of implementing the PPS airline dispatch modules which typically include auto-dispatch functions and data interfacing to 3rd party booking/scheduling and crew planning systems.

Solution Advantages

The advantages of the PPS Flight Planning and CrewBriefing solution along with optional advanced module features mean that the operator gets a pc-based flight planning software tool that will create everything the crew needs for complex flights within a minute or two; it will generate the routing, calculate cruise performance, fuel requirements and optimum FL, initial weight and balance, EROPS/ETOPS ETP calculation analysis with critical fuel scenarios, filing of the flight plan electronically worldwide, manage CFMU slot messages and CTOTs while giving the user full planning flexibility in the process. Without human interaction required, trip tailored briefings are automatically created and made instantly available via the internet on www.CrewBriefing.com. A CrewBriefing package can include the operational flight plan/log with updated winds and temperatures, ATS flight plan copy and updated trip tailored NOTAM briefing, surface weather briefing, wind charts, vertical cross section wind chart, significant weather charts as well as company messages and company NOTAMs. A special upload feature allows the operations department to upload additional pdf documents applying to the flight.

The system can run off a lap-top as well as be installed on a network or Terminal Server environment if required. The PPS Flight Planning main system as well as the route generator system can also work off-line.

The fact that the PPS Flight Planning system is pc-based and that the PPS CrewBriefing solution is web-based and are fully integrated with each other means that it is a very efficient, suitable and powerful flight planning solution. This integration coupling and way of working makes it very simple and efficient for an operations department to support the flight crews the best possible way since the operations department will typically be using the PPS Flight Planning system for creating and managing all flights, changing flight plans, sending delay messages etc., whereas the crew can focus on using the CrewBriefing facilities.

If an operations dispatcher plans a flight at the end of day 1 and file the flight plan, then when the flight departs the following day all the pilot has to do is to go to www.CrewBriefing.com to retrieve his fully updated briefing package on-the-fly without any action required other than briefing himself and printing out the updated package or alternatively fax it from CrewBriefing or download it to a lap-top.
